An out-of-this-world paste wax from
P21S.
New product review by Terry
Freiberg
Our inside source at the P21S factory
denies any connection between the release of this revolutionary paste wax and
the recent rash of UFO sightings reported over the Black Forrest. Undercover
Elf, our source in Germany, states there is absolutely no truth to the rumor
that this new P21S 100% Carnauba Wax was reverse engineered from captured
alien technology.
Seriously, the wax meisters at
P21S have taken their already top-rated paste wax and made it even better. The
first P21S Paste Wax, introduced in 1996, was a blend of Brazilian Carnauba and
other German waxes. This wax is still available and still a favorite among
enthusiasts and professional detailers. The new P21S 100% Carnauba Wax breaks
the "carnauba barrier" by using only Brazilian Carnauba Wax.
A little wax history.
Brazilian Carnauba Wax has a unique
characteristic called jetting. It is a property that creates a super rich
shine with incredible depth and the illusion of "wetness" on the surface. The
problem with carnauba is that it's hard. As hard as concrete. The more carnauba
you put in a wax to maximize the shine, wetness, and durability, the harder it
is to wipe on and buff off. Other waxes are often blended with carnauba to
make the finished wax spread more easily. The magic of this new wax is that P21S
has found a way to pack Brazilian Carnauba wax in a significant concentration
without the wax becoming hard as a rock! In fact, it wipes on and buffs off as
easily as their first paste wax. By using only 100% carnauba wax, P21S has
managed to maximize the depth and wetness while providing the protection that
makes carnauba so desirable.
P21S 100% Carnauba Wax is compatible
with conventional and scratch-resistant clear coats and will not leave white
stains on most plastics and rubber. The wax comes with an innovative "hand grip"
wax applicator that simplifies application.
Summary:
The "hand grip" applicator deserves
more than a passing comment. Not only is it extremely comfortable to use with
the finger cut-outs, it perfectly fits the inside of the jar and picks up just
enough wax to distribute an extremely thin layer of wax on the surface. This is
exactly what you want but it does make it difficult to see which areas have been
waxed, especially on a light colored vehicle. I waxed my entire full size car
and it didn't look like I had scratched the surface of the wax jar. I feel the
consumer is very likely to get 30 or more applications out of this 6.2 oz jar!
The wax is a tad grainier than the first P21S paste wax and takes a tad more
effort to buff off but is in no way hard-to-buff. I waxed the hood, top and
trunk of my car and then buffed the wax to a shine. While this left the wax on
the vehicle a little longer, it still buffed off with minimum effort using a
Microfiber cloth. I then did the entire right side of the car, buffed and
finished with the left side. I couldn't judge depth on my pewter-silver sedan
but the light rippling on the surface gave away carnauba's trademark signature
of wetness. I didn't make another chart for this wax because it would read the
same as the standard P21S wax but I would extend the durability from 90 days to
90 to 120 days based on the increased carnauba content. P21S...you have another
winner!
Cosmetic Note: In the
sample we received, the wax had pulled away slightly from the perimeter of the
jar. The factory states this is normal as the carnauba tends to shrink slightly
as it cools.
Net weight is 6.2 oz. This wax is hand
made in Germany.
