These pads and polishes are matched for optimum performance! Sooner or later, most enthusiasts end up with a machine polisher. The first step is usually a dual-action machine, like the Porter Cable 7424, because it offers an excellent balance of performance and safety. Upon investing in a machine, the enthusiast is then confronted with a bewildering array of wool discs, foam pads and bonnets. Now, he must sort out which pad works best with each specific product he's going to use. While most pads and products will work together, they may not produce optimum results.
Matching an application disc or foam pad to a specific polish for maximum results is a little art and a lot of science. It's the principal job of Scott McLain who works for our foam pad supplier. Scott travels throughout the US and Europe, working with major automakers. It's Scott's responsibility to achieve optimum polishing and buffing results with whatever products the automaker is using. I recently spoke with Scott who had just returned from the Netherlands where he had been working with Mercedes-Benz. When I told Scott we were going to introduce Menzerna polishes to American enthusiasts, he became very animated. "Have I got a knock-out combination for you," were his exact words. It turned out Scott had been using Menzerna polishes in the Netherlands and found the perfect pad for each of their polishes.
The result of that conversation is this Menzerna Polish and Pad Kit. It's designed to be used with the Porter Cable 7424, dual-action polisher with a 6 inch Hook and Loop Backing Plate. (The Backing Plate does not come with this kit). This backing plate, #FBP-6DA, is not included with the polisher as it comes from the factory although we include it if you order our Ultimate Detailing Machine. You can also order this Hook and Loop Backing Plate below if you purchased your polisher elsewhere.
Intensive Polish is designed for use with a machine polisher but it can be applied by hand. Follow with Menzerna Final Polish to maximize surface gloss.
Use this pad with Intensive Polish to remove swirls & scratches.
The contoured design of this pad recesses the backing plate. This prevents the plate from contacting the paint when working around mirrors and wings.
Use this pad with Final Polish to create a mirror-like finish.
What is CCS Technology?
The newer, harder, scratch-resistant clear coats require longer polishing times to remove swirls, spots and defects. The longer you polish with conventional foam pads, the less effective they become because polish migrates below the working surface of the pad. The pad "dries out."
Fill the second bottle with a 50/50 solution of Isopropyl Alcohol and water. (I like to mark this bottle with a marker so I can identify it.) Use this solution to remove residues and fillers when compounding so you can inspect the surface. This allows you to see the true surface condition to determine if you should continue compounding or move to the next step.
Mark one bottle "Water/Alcohol" to keep them separate.
To buff off polish residues, we include two Microfiber Towels. These are 80/20 blends of Polyester and Polyamide with over 190,000 Microfibers per square inch. To give these towels more "bite", engineers reduced the pile height, tightened the weave and increased the loop density. These towels are great for buffing off both Intensive Polish and Final Polish.
